Privacy Policy
Effective October 1, 2026
Platypug ("the game") is made by a small family team. We built it to be safe and simple for families. Today the game has no ads, no accounts, no tracking, and no sale of any data. This policy explains the small amount of information the game uses and why.
Information stored only on your device
The game saves a few settings on your own device so they're there next time:
- the player name you typed for Platytag
- the dog you picked
- your best Pug and Seek time
These stay on your device and are not sent to us. Deleting the app (or clearing your browser's site data) removes them.
Information shared during online play (Platytag)
When you join a Platytag room, the game shares what's needed to play together with the other players in that room:
- the player name you typed (we recommend a first name or nickname, not a full name)
- the dog you picked
- your character's position and actions in the game, like moving, hiding, and tagging
This information passes through Google Firebase Realtime Database, which the game uses to connect players. It is linked only to a random ID created for that session, not to any account, email, or device identifier. When you leave the room or close the game, your player information is removed.
As with any internet service, Google's servers process technical information such as your IP address to deliver the connection. Google handles this under its own privacy terms: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Pug and Seek does not connect to the internet and shares nothing.
What we don't do
- No advertising or ad tracking in the current version
- No analytics or tracking across apps or websites
- No accounts, sign-ups, or collection of email addresses, phone numbers, photos, contacts, or location
- No selling or sharing of information with data brokers
Children
Platypug is designed to be family-friendly. It does not ask for personal information. The only thing a player types is a name for online play, and we encourage kids to use a nickname. Parents with questions can contact us anytime.
Website
The browser version of Platypug is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may log standard technical information (like IP addresses) to run its service, as described in GitHub's privacy statement.
Changes and contact
We may add new features in the future, which could include advertising or optional in-app purchases. If we do, we'll update this policy before that version is released, explaining what changes, which companies are involved, and what information they receive. Any update will appear on this page with a new effective date. Questions? Email platypugs@gmail.com.
